1. Our Commitment
Skilyze is built to help people find work, and that has to include people with disabilities. We are committed to making the platform perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for everyone, regardless of how they access the web — screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or assistive input devices.
Accessibility is treated as part of building the product, not an afterthought.
2. Standard We Follow
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and the European Accessibility Act.
3. Conformance Status
Skilyze is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means some parts of the platform do not yet fully meet the standard. We would rather tell you this plainly than claim a level of conformance we have not verified.
We have completed an internal accessibility review and are working through the issues it identified. This statement will be updated as that work lands.
4. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following and are actively working on them:
- Voice mock interviews require speaking and hearing. If that doesn't work for you, our written mock interview mode offers the same question planning, scoring, and detailed feedback entirely in text — choose "Written" when starting an interview.
- Generated PDF resumes are not tagged for screen readers, so a screen reader cannot read the PDF itself. You do not need to ask us for an accessible copy. Turn on screen reader mode — press Tab on any page and choose "Turn on screen reader mode", or use Settings → Accessibility — and every resume gains a Text view in the preview panel: the same content as real headings and lists, so you can navigate it by heading, re-read any line, and read it on a braille display. The Download menu offers DOCX and plain text alongside PDF at all times, with or without that setting. Word documents keep their heading and list structure, so DOCX is the format we recommend sending to an employer if you use a screen reader.
- Colour contrast has been improved across the app but has not yet been verified page-by-page against the 4.5:1 standard in both light and dark themes. If any text is hard to read, please tell us where.
- Zoom and small screens. The three-panel dashboard has not been fully verified at 200% zoom or at 320px width. Other pages reflow correctly.
- Screen-reader testing is ongoing. The app has been built and reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA, and we have done a dedicated round of work for screen-reader users (below). But we have not yet completed an end-to-end walkthrough with NVDA and VoiceOver on every flow, and we have not had a third-party audit. Until we have, we describe ourselves as partially conformant rather than claiming more than we can evidence — and we would genuinely rather hear from you than have you work around a problem quietly.
Recently fixed. All dialogs announce themselves and trap keyboard focus. Reordering resume sections, bullet points and job cards works from the keyboard. The cover-letter and rich-text editors are announced as editable fields with working keyboard formatting, every form field is labelled, and the app honours your system's "reduce motion" setting.
We have also completed a round of work aimed specifically at screen-reader users:
- Screen reader mode adds a Text view to every resume (press Tab on any page, or Settings → Accessibility), and DOCX / plain-text downloads are always available — so the document you send is one you can read back and check.
- The app now tells you what it is doing. Sending a message, generating a reply, a reply arriving, a generation finishing — and, importantly, anything failing — are all announced instead of only being shown.
- Voice interviews announce whose turn it is ("Sarah is speaking" / "Your turn to speak"), and warn you before the interview ends.
- The session list is a single stop — use the arrow keys to move between conversations instead of tabbing through every one — and each page offers "Skip to chat" and "Skip to preview" links on the first Tab.
- Page changes are announced, headings follow a proper outline, and quizzes, tabs, accordions and the photo picker all work from the keyboard. The photo cropper has a "Use whole image" option so you never have to judge a crop visually.
5. Feedback & Getting Help
If you encounter a barrier, or need something in a different format, please tell us — reports from real users are the most valuable input we get.
Email [email protected] with the page or feature, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you were using (if any).
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to propose a solution or timeline within 10 business days. If something blocks you from using a feature you have paid for, we will help you complete the task directly in the meantime.
6. How We Assess Accessibility
Our current conformance claim is based on an internal self-evaluation of the platform's code and interface against WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We have not yet commissioned a third-party audit.
Institutions requiring a formal Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR/VPAT) for procurement should contact us at [email protected] so we can discuss timelines.
